The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority is the national authority on food safety in Singapore dedicated to ensuring a resilient supply of safe food, safeguarding the health of animals and plants, and facilitating agri-trade for the well-being of the nation. Our core functions include ensuring food safety, ensuring resilience in food supply, safeguarding animal and plant health, safeguarding animal welfare, promoting agrotechnology, investing in research and development and protecting endangered wildlife.
Responsibilities;
• Coordinate the implementation of plant farm inspection programmes to manage activities in plant farms at Agrotechnology Parks and other agricultural land to ensure food safety, plant health compliance with rules and regulation, and initiate action on farm irregularities.
• Provide supporting services to the farming industry to facilitate the development and operation of farms to ensure optimum use of limited land resources for agriculture production and increase of farm productivity.
• Coordinate Pesticide Utilization Inspection programme.
• Coordinate the pesticide operator certification.
• Investigate complaints and look into appeals from members of public and farmers.
• Liaise with Government agencies and Statutory Boards on farm matters and collaboration projects.
• Assist in the administration, monitoring and review of budget allocation to ensure optimal utilization of financial resources at the Section.
Requirements;
• Degree, preferably in Science / Agriculture / Horticulture.
• Possess knowledge in agriculture / horticulture, and able to manage matters related to farming.
• Physically fit and able to perform field work.
• Good communication and written skills.
