The Attorney-General's Chambers plays a pivotal role in enhancing the rule of law and strengthening the efficiency and integrity of Singapore's legal system. It also assists the Judiciary in the fair and impartial administration of justice in Singapore in carrying out its prosecutorial functions.

Responsibilities

The Civil Division’s mission is to provide quality legal advice and representation for the good governance of Singapore. We advise the Government and other public sector agencies on legal issues and represent the Government in court proceedings, mediation, negotiations, etc.
The Management Support Officers (MSOs) in the Civil Division assist State Counsels in court proceedings and manage the Civil Division’s Registry of files and the new electronic file management system. The Division’s MSOs also participate in various projects and committees within the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals, with a good command of English. Successful candidates will be provided with comprehensive training and there is also scope for career progression and development.

Management of Registry

- Manage the Division’s electronic file management system
- Create and maintain custody of files
- Organize archival and destruction of files
- Monitor status of files
- Retrieving precedent files
- Managing Civil centralized mailbox on rotational basis
- Despatch outgoing correspondence
- Record and prepare statistics on work output
- Respond to queries from clients, external agencies and members of public and referring them to the appropriate divisions/officers
- Handle all incoming and outgoing documents
- Any other duties as assigned by the State Counsels and legal executives

Requirements
- All new appointees will be appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance
- GCE “A” or “O” Level Certificate or Nitec/Certificate in Office Skills; or Higher Nitec in Accounting or Certificate in Business Studies
- Competent in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
- Well organized with a keen eye for details, meticulous and committed to delivering high quality work;
- Strong in administrative skills;
- Self motivated; and
- Able to work independently as well as in a team.
