major engine of growth and leveraging infocomm for economic and social
development.
Technology & Planning Group
As the ICT masterplanner for the nation and IDA, the group aims to
provide foresight on the state of ICT developments from within and outsides of
Singapore, propose strategic directions for way ahead and to conduct pilot
trials and deployments of emerging technologies that have strategic impact to
Singapore's development.
An opportunity exists for a Deputy Director, ICT Research. The successful candidate will lead a a team of engineers & researchers ('IDA
research') in new technology areas to develop technology solutions, capability,
proof of concepts & field trials in selected high impact emerging technology
areas eg. Pervasive sensors networks, analytics, AI/machine learning, cognitive
radios, software defined networks, data visualisation. This exciting role looks into the FUTURE of
Technology in our world.
In this role, you will be responsible for:-
· Developing and building up
Competency and Technical Capabilities, Proof of Concepts and driving towards
trials with stakeholders
· Supporting
capability gap analysis and development in the infocomm ecosystem (e.g. develop
infocomm R&D strategic direction, identify new technology areas)
· Engagement
with National Research Foundation and the R&D community to develop a
national ICT R&D strategy and ICT masterplan
· Deriving
areas of ICT R&D priorities and ICT developmental areas for IDA and other
government agencies
· Supporting
Strategic Foresight in formulating ICT and other related trend reports via a
portfolio of FUTURES products to keep management and Futures networks of
government agencies apprised of emerging technology and business trends
Key requirements:-
Minimally Degree-qualified in Computer Science or Technology- related discipline
· At least 5 years of working experience in technology analysis, forecasting & forward planning methodologies, and
R&D planning and strategies in infocomm-related technologies
Experience in management of R&D projects or
formulation of R&D plans
Experience in drafting technology analysis reports on weekly, monthly and yearly basis for both short and long term trends
Good knowledge and understanding of the local and global infocomm landscape, global R&D areas and methodologies, technology and business trends
· Appreciation of macro-economic developments that impact the infocomm landscape, ability to interpret & use statistics to discern areas of strategic and national impact for long-term national ICT
development
